Property division not likely to be an issue in Brangelina split

For many people in Colorado, getting married is one of the most important events in their lives. While the notion of signing a prenuptial agreement may be unromantic to some people, having one in place can protect both parties and their finances in the event the marriage does not work out.

In the wake of the announcement that Angelina Jolie has filed for divorce from Brad Pitt, there has been much speculation about how the two celebrities will separate their lives from one another. While it appears that a child custody battle may be looming, there is at least one area that does not seem to be headed for a courtroom. The couple did sign a prenuptial agreement when they married that will dictate how the division of their property is handled.

In addition to the numerous properties each owns individually, there are three pieces of real estate that Pitt and Jolie own jointly. However, all of the properties were purchased prior to the couple’s 2014 marriage and are apparently covered by the prenuptial agreement. A fight over the couple’s other financial assets is reportedly unlikely. Their combined worth is estimated to be $400 million.

There are many benefits to having a prenuptial agreement, particularly for couples who have a lot of individual wealth heading into a marriage. People who are considering entering into a prenuptial agreement may wish to consult with an experienced attorney.
